DECC has today announced the final report of the Feed In Tariff and launched their report and consultation on the Renewable Heat Incentive (see INCENTIVE DETAILS below). Regen SW experts will be online tomorrow (Tuesday 2 February) between 2pm and 4pm to answer your questions on the two schemes. Feed into the Renewable Heat Incentive consultation – 23 March 2010, Bristol
In addition, Regen SW, in partnership with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), is running a high-profile national conference on the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) on 23 March in Bristol. The event will bring together around 150 national businesses and decision makers to debate the issues raised by the RHI consultation. Senior representatives from DECC will be presenting the proposed scheme and seeking feedback from the audience. There is discount of on the cost of this event for Regen SW Members.

INCENTIVE DETAILS
Feed in Tariff
The Feed in Tariff levels have been set higher than the levels set in the consultation document. This follows lobbying by Regen SW and many other organisations. For example, a retrofit solar PV system under 4kW will receive 41.3p per kilowatt hour. However, the export tariff has been cut from 5p to 3p, reducing the benefit of these increases. Also, tariffs will now be index-linked to inflation. However, existing microgenerators (who transferred from the renewables obligation) will receive still a much lower incentive – 9p per kilowatt hour.
Initial impressions are that the scheme will be a very positive step forward, and Regen SW is now in the process of reviewing the final documents and checking the finer detail.

Renewable Heat Incentive
The renewable heat incentive consultation suggests that installers of renewable heat will receive a return on investment of 12 per cent on the additional cost of fitting the technology (6 per cent for solar thermal). Tariffs for microgeneration (below 45kW) systems include 9p per kilowatt hour for biomass, 7p per kilowatt hour for ground source heat pumps, and 18p per kilowatt hour for solar thermal (below 20kW).
